Westermeier Commons
This 15-acre zone is just one part of the 159-acre Central Park. It features a large, interactive playground designed with a variety of users in mind, including children with autism. Beyond the park’s active play areas, Westermeier Commons offers ample green space for relaxation, an outdoor classroom for educational exploration, and a variety of rentable shelters for community gatherings.
Weihe Engineers’ expertise played a vital role in 2024, collaborating with Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation to prepare comprehensive bid documents for strategic upgrades. These enhancements included ADA-friendly resilient rubber surfacing for improved safety and accessibility, an expanded play area with durable synthetic turf, and the integration of native plantings for a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing environment.
