Crossing the Finish Line

The Centaur Equine Hospital located in Shelbyville was an exciting opportunity with the Purdue Research Foundation and Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. The Shelby County staff were very supportive of this project through the entire process. One of the largest challenges of the site was its very flat nature being an existing farm field. In order to overcome this, wet detention ponds were created along the road frontage which accomplished several things at once. They not only provided the required storm water detention volume for the County, but they also provided the dirt needed to fill the site up for better drainage and provided an aesthetically pleasing entry for this premier performance horse hospital, which provides specialty medical and surgical services while supporting equine research and education.
